“Harmonic Mixing”

Harmonic mixing is an innovative way to mix tracks together, creating perfect DJ sets. The goal is to eliminate key clashes.
I use this technique and I love it.

The Basics
Harmonic mixing consists of two elements: knowing the key of every song that you play and knowing which keys are compatible.
To get started, find the keys of your songs.
To help DJs learn harmonic mixing, Mark Davis created the Camelot wheel, a visual representation of which keys are compatible with each other.
*I didn’t found any Camelot Wheel of Open Key of traktor so I make my own wheel. Enjoy it!
On the Camelot wheel, each key is assigned a keycode number from one to twelve, like hours around a clock. Like examples indicated here, with 1m and 1d.

“Energy Boost Mixing”

Energy boost mixing creates a lift on the dance floor.
So, go up one semitone, add 7 to your current Camelot number. If you’re in

If you’re in B Minor (3d), add 7 and you’ll be in C Minor (10d). Or you ca go up two semitones, just add 2 to your current Camelot number. If you’re in A Minor (1d), add 2 and you’ll get B Minor (3d). Play your next tune in 7A, and you’ll experience an energy boost mix.

It’s better to mix quickly, because the melodies will clash. It should be dynamic to complement this style of mixing. You’re going for a specific effect, and not a long blend.
Remember It must be always at clockwise direction.

In my new set NEW BEATS A/W 2015  you can feel these mixtures, both the harmonica progression as the technique of Energy Boost.
So get your ass out off the chair and go to mix.
See you next time!
